Brilliant Machines: New GE Spot Sheds Light on the Power of Industrial Internet

What happens when big iron merges with big data? The Industrial Internet. Coined by GE, the term refers to the integration of complex physical machinery with networked sensors and software, resulting in the creation of brilliant machines that are changing the way we work.

This is the theme of “Silver State,” a new 90-second spot we produced with Academy Award winning director Ross Kauffman for GE, which showcases how the Industrial Internet is fueling innovation and the economy. The film was shot at a GE facility in rural Minden, NV where over a century ago, precious matter drew miners from all over the country. Today, local manufacturing engineers are creating it at the GE plant.

“Silver State” is one of a four-part micro-documentary series GE is sponsoring, which will air during CNBC’s hour-program “Rise of the Machines,” September 18 at 9pm.
