Fifty years after Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were put to death in Sing Sing Prison for “conspiracy to commit espionage”, Ivy Meeropol, made the award-winning film, Heir to an Execution, to examine the legacy of the execution from their grandchild’s perspective – hers. On Wednesday, June 26, the 60th anniversary of the Rosenbergs’ deaths, the Film Society of Lincoln Center will present a special screening of Meeropol’s film as part of their monthly documentary series, Art of the Real.
A longtime collaborator with our Executive Producer, Xan Parker, (on Sundance Channel Series The Hill and the documentary All About Abe), Ivy Meeropol directs many DB Productions, including Healthy Schools and Full Partners. Meeropol’s Heir to An Execution (HBO) premiered at Sundance and made the Academy Award short-list.
The special retrospective screening will take place at the Walter Reade Theater, at the Lincoln Center in Manhattan. The filmmaker will be present, along with her father Michael Meeropol (the Rosenbergs’ older son), and other guests, to take questions from the audience. Learn more about event.
